Our Story
Our story didn't begin with a business plan; it began with a friendship. Dar, Abubakar, and Tasawar first met as students at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). As part of the Class of 2009, we formed a bond that would eventually give our company its name—DAT.
We were part of the National Outreach Program (NOP)—a program designed for students with big dreams and limited means.
As batchmates (Class of 2009), Dar pursued Computer Sciences, Abubakar did Computer Engineering, while Tasawar delved into Economics. After graduation, our paths naturally diverged. We spent the next 15 years building separate careers in government policy, high-end engineering, and economic operations.
The Turning Point: A Routine Conversation
In mid-2023, during a routine catch-up between old friends, our conversation turned to the upcoming Pakistan General Elections of 2024. Having spent years in government and political strategy, we discussed the massive logistical nightmare of election campaigns.
We saw a recurring failure: tech companies were pitching high-end mobile apps to manage field workers and polling agents. But we knew these workers personally—they were hardworking people, but often not "tech-savvy." They were being ignored by the digital revolution because "complex systems" were a barrier, not a tool.
We decided to help by building something that felt natural: a management layer on WhatsApp. While the internet shutdown on Election Day limited our full launch, the experience crystallized a much larger problem.
The Vision: Solving the "Visibility Gap"
We realized that across every major sector in Pakistan, there is a "Visibility Gap." Top management lacks clear insight into the field, and field workers are often caught in the middle.
Without objective data, two things happen:
- Inefficiency: Organizations lose millions in leakages and "ghost" operations.
- Exploitation: Honest field workers can be unfairly treated by immediate supervisors because there is no transparent record of their hard work.

We co-founded DAT to bridge this gap. By using tools people already use—like WhatsApp—we've created a system where:
